The Dusty Finish:

The most common term pegged to Dusty Rhodes' booking style. The Dusty Finish is one of the most maddening finishes in modern wrestling, and is still used to this day in rare occasions by the WWF. The Dusty finish involves a matchup (almost always a title matchup) between a clear-cut babyface, and a hated heel champion. The most common variance of the Dusty Finish involves the primary referee of the match getting knocked out and a second referee rushing to ringside. The babyface then proceeds to hit his finisher, get the pinfall, and celebrate his championship victory. The crowd goes crazy and we've got a new champion. But wait!!! Big Dust throws a monkey wrench into the plan by having the primary referee wake up and REVERSE THE DECISION. We've been HOSED!!!!!! In almost all cases of the Dusty Finish, the crowd riots, the buidling is burnt down, and no real heat is added to the feud. The territory was usually killed as Dusty laughed hardily in the back thinking about his booking genius as he polished Dustin's collection of championship belts.
